What is a PICO laser?

A PICO laser is a type of advanced laser technology that delivers ultra-short bursts of energy—measured in picoseconds (one trillionth of a second)—to target pigment in the skin without causing significant heat damage to surrounding tissue.

What skin concerns can be treated with a PICO laser?

The PICO laser is versatile and can be used for a variety of skin concerns, including:

  • Sunspots

  • Melasma

  • Tattoo removal

  • Uneven skin tone or texture

*Safe in most skin types*

What can I expect during a PICO laser treatment?

During the treatment, you may feel a light snapping or tingling sensation. Most sessions are quick—often 15 to 30 minutes—depending on the area being treated. Numbing cream is usually not necessary as the laser treatment is tolerable but it may be applied beforehand for added comfort. After the PICO laser treatment, there will be some white spotting, mild redness, and swelling to the areas treated, indicating that the laser was effective. Downtime is usually minimal and the skin will heal fully in 1-2 weeks. You can return to normal activities shortly after the procedure and sun protection is strongly advised.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on the condition being treated. Some patients see improvement after just one session, but two to three treatments—spaced several weeks apart—may be recommended for optimal results.
